Namyangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Joo Gwang-deok) announced on the 26th that it has been selected as an excellent local government in the ‘2024 Local Public Institution Innovation and Structural Reform’ evaluation conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, receiving a financial incentive of 200 million KRW.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety conducts annual evaluations of performance and best practices among local governments nationwide to promote continuous innovation and the spread of achievements in local public institutions, providing financial incentives accordingly.
This evaluation was conducted on 118 local governments nationwide (17 metropolitan and 101 basic), with a professional evaluation team reviewing implementation performance and best practices from May 2022 to November 2024. As a result, a total of 14 excellent local governments were selected, including 6 metropolitan and 8 basic local governments.
Namyangju City received excellent evaluations for achievements in areas such as ▲the institution head’s commitment to innovation and active promotion ▲adjustment of functions and reorganization of projects competing with the private sector ▲efforts to reduce budget and ripple effects.
The head of Namyangju City’s Budget Department stated, “This achievement is the result of Namyangju City’s continuous efforts to discover innovative tasks and faithfully implement them,” and added, “We will continue to promote innovation in local public institutions to provide high-quality services to citizens and strive to create even greater achievements.”
