Both Pro- and Anti-Impeachment Rallies Held in Front of the Constitutional Court
Actor Jo Jin-woong (46) lent his support to a rally criticizing the 'leader of the rebellion' and calling for dismissal.
On the 21st, YouTube channel Candlelight Action TV released a video of Jo Jin-woong’s encouragement at a rally hosted by Candlelight Action held around Anguk Station on Seoul Subway Line 3 near the Constitutional Court in Jongno-gu, Seoul, at 4:30 p.m.
Jo Jin-woong spoke about the declaration of martial law on the 3rd, saying, "The Gwangju Democratic Uprising, defended with blood, and the deep, profound meaning of democracy are well known to our people to the core of their bones. Yet, our people were cruelly destroyed by martial law."

He continued, "The people united as one defeated that atrocity," adding, "Our people are the true heroes of this era. In a time when the leader of the rebellion who sought to destroy the meaning of democracy almost prevailed, the true heroes were the people." He also said, "As citizens of the Republic of Korea, we will always keep a close watch on this grave situation," and "We will do our utmost to support and stand together to ensure victory and protect democracy that will never collapse."
In front of the Constitutional Court, where the impeachment trial is underway, rallies both for and against impeachment were held that day. As the ball moved from the National Assembly to the Constitutional Court, the main stage for rallies appeared to be shifting from Yeouido to Gwanghwamun and Jongno. The police deployed additional riot squads in preparation for possible clashes. Security at the entrance of the Constitutional Court was reportedly tightened compared to usual.

During the same period, a counter-rally opposing impeachment was held in Gwanghwamun. Unlike last weekend, when rallies calling for resignation were held in Yeouido and anti-impeachment rallies in Gwanghwamun during the National Assembly’s impeachment vote, from this week onward, all gatherings have been concentrated in Gwanghwamun.
