Selection of Installation Areas Based on Resident Opinions and Crime Risk Prediction System
Taean County in South Chungcheong Province has launched the 'Safe Return Home Environment Project' to enhance safety in residents' daily lives.
The county announced on the 19th that, as part of this year's Safe Return Home Environment Project, it has installed various safety facilities, including logo projectors and LED signboards, in areas vulnerable to safety risks within the county. In addition, joint inspections were conducted with relevant organizations and groups, all as part of efforts to create a 'Safe Taean.'
This project aims to prevent serious crimes and crimes targeting women, which have been increasing nationwide. The county determined that environmental improvements were needed in crime-prone areas and actively gathered residents' opinions to select installation sites for the facilities.
Furthermore, by comprehensively analyzing the crime risk prediction system, surrounding environment, and risk factors, the county designated six areas of concern for safety accidents. It also focused on enhancing the project's effectiveness through information sharing and cooperation with the Taean Police Station, the Safe School Commute Movement Headquarters, and local voluntary crime prevention teams.
The safety facilities installed include six logo projectors, four LED safe return home path signboards, and three LED emergency bell signboards, mainly in densely populated residential areas of Taean-eup and Anmyeon-eup.
These facilities offer excellent visibility at night, help improve the area's appearance, and enable quick reporting in emergencies, receiving positive feedback from residents.
A resident of Taean-eup said, "I used to feel a bit uneasy walking through alleyways after work, but now the logo projectors brightly illuminate the dark roads, and the LED signboards display the 'report location address' in large letters so I can easily tell the police my exact location. I think it will be very helpful."
The county plans to continue these environmental improvement projects for residents' safety by allocating county funds next year to install additional safety facilities in areas of concern and parks.
A county official stated, "We will continue to collaborate with various departments, organizations, and groups to create a safe return home environment and analyze the effectiveness of installed facilities to develop further improvement measures. We will make multifaceted efforts to ensure Taean County remains free of incidents and accidents."
