Achieving Three Consecutive Best University Awards in 2015, 2019, and 2024
The Department of Broadcasting and Visual Media at Dongseo University (President Jang Je-guk) has been selected as the top department in the media field in the 2024 Industry-Oriented University Evaluation.

The Industry-Oriented University Evaluation is an assessment project led by the Ministry of Education to improve curricula that meet industry demands and to expand communication between industry and universities. This year, a total of 32 departments from 20 universities across 5 fields participated.
The evaluation fields this year included media, electrical engineering, eco-friendly automobiles, drones, and textiles, with 32 departments from 20 universities applying. After review by the evaluation and operation committee, 14 departments from 10 universities were selected as top universities.
The Department of Broadcasting and Visual Media at Dongseo University established an on-campus field education system (In-School Field System) based on a media outlet (a virtual company within the campus) in 2014. This system allows students to gain experience in various roles such as PD, writer, cameraman, and editing director before graduation, fostering semi-experienced professionals demanded by the industry.
Park Mi-sun, head of the Department of Broadcasting and Visual Media at Dongseo University, stated, “Achieving the top university award for three consecutive years in the 2024 Industry-Oriented University Evaluation is the result of the department members’ consistent efforts over the past decade to realize the outcomes of on-campus field education (In-School Field Study). We will accelerate our efforts toward becoming Asia’s number one in cultural content.”
