Choi Ho-gwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo District, attended the ‘Winter Stories of Yeongdeungpo Village Gardeners’ event held on the afternoon of December 18 at the women’s communication cultural space HEY YDP!.
The district has operated a ‘Village Gardener’ training program composed of residents to spread garden leisure culture, producing a total of 38 village gardeners this year. The first cohort’s graduation ceremony was successfully held on July 1, and on this day, 17 members of the second cohort completed their training and received certificates.
The event proceeded in the order of ▲education results report ▲certificate awarding ▲screening of the first cohort’s activity video ▲announcement of the 2025 village gardener operation plan, with Mayor Choi Ho-gwon and village gardeners in attendance.
The year 2024 marks a meaningful year announcing a new leap forward with the declaration of ‘Yeongdeungpo, a Garden City Filled with Floral Fragrance.’ Starting with the ‘Mullae-dong Flower Garden,’ the district is spreading garden culture by creating everyday life-oriented gardens such as ‘Dangsan Park Moss Garden,’ ‘Ankara Park Waterway Garden,’ and ‘Mullae-dong Green Pole Alley Garden’ throughout residents’ daily lives.
Choi Ho-gwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo District, said, “Congratulations to the village gardeners who will help create the garden city Yeongdeungpo together, and I look forward to their active activities,” adding, “We will continue to do our best to discover various garden culture programs that residents can participate in.”
