The on-site close discussion meeting is operated to directly hear the voices of citizens, the demand side, on various policies at the site, reflect them in policies to solve livelihood issues more quickly, and discuss future policy development plans.

At the discussion meeting, Mayor Bang Se-hwan, responsible officials, NH Nonghyup Bank Gupyeonghoe Gwangju Branch Manager, representatives of Food Farm Center shipping companies, and general consumer citizens attended together.

In July, Gwangju City opened the ‘Gwangju City Jayeonchae Food Farm Center,’ a complex center utilizing local food aimed at expanding sales channels for local farmers and providing fresh food to consumers.

The Food Farm Center operates from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day except Mondays (closed) and has facilities that citizens can use in various ways, including a local food direct sales store, a farm restaurant, and a cafe from the basement first floor to the fourth floor, receiving great responses. On November 28, it achieved the milestone of surpassing 1 billion KRW in sales just five months after opening.

Gwangju City is making efforts to activate local food consumption by holding promotional events and various direct transaction events such as the ‘Kimjang Season Pickled Napa Cabbage Sales Event’ here, as well as ensuring safe agricultural product supply through residual pesticide inspections and support for vinyl greenhouse and cold storage facilities.

The meeting proceeded in the order of Mayor Bang’s greeting, major policy presentations related to the operation of the Food Farm Center, suggestions, and opinion discussions, and lively discussions on the development plan of Gwangju City local food continued in a free atmosphere.

Gwangju City plans to actively reflect the opinions raised at this meeting to ensure that the Food Farm Center can be of practical help to the local economy and agriculture.

Mayor Bang Se-hwan said, “The Food Farm Center is a very important space where local farmers and citizens communicate together and share healthy food beyond a simple local food direct sales store,” adding, “We are planning year-round operation of the direct sales store, opening the training hall, and launching cooking classes so that citizens can be more satisfied with using the Food Farm Center.”
