This training has been conducted for three years with the purpose of providing a correct understanding of the rapidly changing labor environment, presenting the response direction of labor unions, and building rational and healthy labor-management relations through strengthening the capabilities of labor unions.

Yangju City explained that, especially due to the ongoing economic downturn, small-scale workplaces have begun to face management difficulties, resulting in frequent labor disputes related to retirement pay, paid leave, unemployment benefits, wage arrears, labor contracts, and dismissals. It further noted that administrative handling focused on criminal punishment such as complaints, accusations, and petitions regarding violations of various labor laws has rather caused side effects that undermine healthy labor-management relations.

Accordingly, it was stated that improving awareness through labor law education can be a fundamental solution to reduce social costs, highlighting the need for regular and continuous educational opportunities as the background for this training project.

This training focused on establishing the status of labor unions through learning the roles and attitudes of executives for proper labor union activities via sessions such as ▲Hope Still Lies in the Labor Movement ▲The Role and Attitude of Executives for Proper Labor Union Activities ▲Strategies and Tactics of Collective Bargaining 1 & 2, and sought directions for the development of healthy labor-management relations through simulated collective bargaining training to strengthen labor unions.

Jo Myung-hee, Director of the Job Economy Division, said, “Through this labor union executive training, we hope it will greatly contribute to preventing disputes by complying with and implementing labor laws and help foster healthy labor-management relations based on mutual respect and trust between workers and employers.”
