Japanese, Vietnamese, and Korean Students Participate Together in Hangul Program
Expected to Enhance Global Competence and Expand Potential Study Abroad Demand
From the 17th, the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education will hold the 'Busan Glocal Hangul Festival' for 3 nights and 4 days at Haeundae BEXCO, Arpina, and other locations, targeting 80 students from Japanese and Vietnamese Korean language curriculum schools and 120 Korean students.
This festival aims to enhance students' global competencies through exchanges with foreign students and to widely promote the excellence of Hangul and Busan culture, thereby increasing potential demand for studying abroad.
The Busan Office of Education focuses on activating student-led international exchanges based on Korean language education in operating the festival.
The festival will be conducted with various programs involving foreign students recommended by the Korean Education Centers in Osaka and Hanoi, as well as Korean students from the Global Youth Exchange Volunteer Group.
On the 17th, when foreign students arrive, Hangul experience programs such as 'Ring, Hangul Golden Bell!' and 'Large Yutnori' will be prepared.
The 18th, designated as 'Hangul Experience Day,' will be an event where participating students mingle together. Students will form teams as 'Korea-Japan' and 'Korea-Vietnam' to engage in recreational activities and team games (Korean language quizzes) together.
In addition, participants will take part in various booth experiences using Hangul and watch K-POP performances. Especially on this day, a sisterhood agreement ceremony between Busan Foreign Language High School and Vietnam Viet Duc High School will be held, adding significance to the festival.
On the 19th, 'Culture Experience Day' will feature visits to the Busan Science Experience Center and cultural activities such as riding the beach train to experience Busan culture.
Kim Hyun-gu, Director of the Digital Future Education Division at the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, said, “This festival, which facilitates communication and cooperation with students from various countries, will be a great opportunity for our students to grow into global talents,” and added, “We expect that by actively participating in various programs, students will also enhance their understanding of the excellence of Hangul and their hometown, Busan.”
