Japan Ishiba approval rating remains in the 30% range... Negative evaluations increase

Slight Decline in One Month... Dropped by 3.5%P

A survey released on the 15th showed that the approval rating of the Ishiba Shigeru Cabinet, launched last October, slightly declined and remained in the 30% range.


Kyodo News reported that in a telephone opinion poll conducted from the 14th to 15th with 1,056 voters nationwide (based on valid responses), the approval rating of the cabinet led by Prime Minister Ishiba was 36.5%, down 3.5 percentage points compared to the survey conducted on the 16th to 17th of last month. The disapproval rating increased by 4.3 percentage points to 43.1%.

In a telephone opinion poll conducted by Mainichi Shimbun during the same period with 2,045 respondents, the approval rating of the Ishiba Cabinet was 30%, down 1 percentage point from the survey on the 23rd to 24th of last month. The percentage of those who did not support the Ishiba Cabinet rose by 3 percentage points to 53%.


About 70% expressed concern that the chaotic political situation in Korea might affect Japan-Korea relations. In the Kyodo News survey, 73.4% said they were "worried," and in the Mainichi survey, 66% responded that they "felt uneasy." Mainichi reported that the proportion of respondents who felt uneasy increased with age.
