Pocheon City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Young-hyun) announced on the 12th that it will hold the "2024 Pocheon City Resident Autonomy Contest and Resident Autonomy Activation Merit Award Ceremony" at 2 p.m. on the 17th in the large conference room on the 2nd floor of the new building of Pocheon City Hall.
The event will be attended by about 200 people, including Mayor Baek Young-hyun of Pocheon, Chairman Lim Jong-hoon of the Pocheon City Council, Kim Do-gyeom, President of the Resident Autonomy Federation, as well as chairpersons of resident autonomy committees and resident autonomy members from each eup, myeon, and dong. Certificates of commendation will be awarded to 69 resident autonomy members who have contributed to the development and activation of resident autonomy and have dedicated themselves to the local community.
After the award ceremony, resident autonomy members will directly present and share major projects and best practices promoted by the resident autonomy committees of each eup, myeon, and dong. Through this, the city plans to reflect on the meaning of autonomous activities, share exemplary cases by region, and lay the foundation for cooperation and participation to activate resident autonomy.
Mayor Baek Young-hyun of Pocheon said, "This year is a meaningful year as all 14 eup, myeon, and dong in Pocheon City have been converted to resident autonomy committees. I hope this contest and award ceremony will strengthen resident autonomy capabilities and serve as an opportunity to create a better resident autonomy model."
Meanwhile, the resident autonomy committee selected as the best in the contest will participate as Pocheon City's representative in the "2025 Gyeonggi-do Resident Autonomy Best Practice Contest."
