Police Special Investigation Unit Conducts Search and Seizure at Presidential Office... "Charges of Treason" (Comprehensive)

The police have launched a forced investigation into the Presidential Office, the National Police Agency, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, and the National Assembly Security Service in connection with the 'December 3 Emergency Martial Law Incident.'

On the 11th, the Special Investigation Unit of the National Police Agency announced that it had begun searches and seizures at the Presidential Office, the National Police Agency, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, and the National Assembly Security Service.


A representative of the Special Investigation Unit explained, "The charges are basically treason," adding, "The scope of the searches and seizures does not cover the entire Presidential Office."


The police have dispatched investigators to secure materials related to the emergency martial law.


Currently, with Police Commissioner General Jo Ji-ho and Seoul Metropolitan Police Commissioner Kim Bong-sik urgently arrested on charges of treason, Deputy Commissioner General Lee Ho-young and Deputy Commissioner of Public Safety Choi Hyun-seok are acting in their respective roles.


On the same day, the National Police Agency held a nationwide video conference of police commanders, stating their commitment to diligently perform their duties to establish public safety. Regarding the emergency martial law case, they said they will conduct a thorough investigation centered on the Special Investigation Unit of the National Forensic Service to leave no suspicion.


A police official said, "We take the current situation very seriously and sincerely apologize to the public," adding, "We will strictly maintain political neutrality according to the Constitution and laws, and faithfully fulfill our duties to ensure the safe daily lives of the people without any gaps."
