"Blood-red paint and condolence wreath... even a weapon in front of the residence"
"The height of anti-democratic violence and a witch hunt"
"Following the Chinese-style Cultural Revolution, rightfully condemned"
Park Soo-young, a member of the People Power Party, criticized some citizens' protests involving condolence wreaths, referring to them as a 'Red Guard-style frenzy.'
On the 10th, Park posted a message titled "Are they Red Guards from the Cultural Revolution?" on his social media account. He stated, "I acknowledge President Yoon Seok-yeol's sincerity, but the imposition of martial law was a wrong decision." However, he added, "The Red Guard-style frenzy displayed by the leftists now is an extreme form of undemocratic violence and a witch hunt that has far crossed the line." He continued, "Not only did they throw blood-red paint on Representative Kim Jae-seop's office and place condolence wreaths, but they also left warning signs and box cutters in front of the home where a baby only 200 days old lives."
Park claimed, "About 20,000 abusive messages are sent daily to the 108 People Power Party lawmakers, making it impossible to use their mobile phones. It seems these messages are sent not by individuals but by macros like Druking," adding, "Of course, this is illegal." He also said, "On the day of the impeachment vote, Democratic Party officials filled the National Assembly main building and the members' office building, intimidating lawmakers with shouting and physical confrontations, which is also Red Guard-style behavior." Furthermore, he emphasized, "Those who claim to uphold democracy and call for impeachment but act in an undemocratic, Chinese-style Cultural Revolution manner deserve condemnation and legal punishment. I hope the prosecution and police fulfill their duties."

Earlier, on the 7th, during the impeachment motion vote at the National Assembly, many People Power Party lawmakers abstained from voting, causing the motion to fail due to insufficient quorum. In response, some citizens sent condolence wreaths to the district offices of People Power Party lawmakers and protested fiercely by throwing eggs, flour, ketchup, and other items.
In particular, Representative Kim Jae-seop (Seoul Dobong-gap) has faced even harsher criticism due to remarks made by Representative Yoon Sang-hyun (Incheon Dong-gu·Michuhol-gu Eul). On the 8th, Yoon appeared on a YouTube channel and said, "After Kim abstained from the impeachment vote, he asked me, 'Brother, I'm getting a lot of criticism in my district. What should I do?' I replied, 'I also opposed former President Park Geun-hye's impeachment until the end and received a lot of criticism then. But a year later, people said Yoon Sang-hyun is loyal and supported me even as an independent candidate.'" After this statement caused controversy, Kim expressed strong regret, saying, "I deeply regret that my name was mentioned and inappropriate remarks were made," and defended himself by saying, "At the party meeting, I only conveyed the worsening public sentiment to Representative Yoon and urged the party to respond." The police have confirmed that someone left a weapon and a sign demanding impeachment in front of Kim Jae-seop's residence and have taken protective measures for his safety.
