Jungsik New York, a Korean fine dining restaurant operating in New York, USA, has received the highest rating of 3 stars from the world-renowned culinary guide, the Michelin Guide. This is the first time for a Korean restaurant in the United States.
On the 9th (local time), the Michelin Guide announced that Jungsik New York received 3 stars this year. Jungsik is operated by Chef Jung Sik Im. The original location in Seoul holds 2 Michelin stars, and the New York branch has been operating since 2011.
Jungsik New York received 1 Michelin star in 2012 and 2 stars in 2013. It maintained 2 stars continuously until it was awarded 3 stars after 13 years since its opening.
There are only five restaurants in New York City with 3 Michelin stars, and among the 14 three-star restaurants across the United States, Jungsik is the first Korean fine dining establishment to receive this honor.
The Michelin Guide praised, "The Korean cuisine by owner-chef Jung Sik Kim and head chef Dae Ik Kim begins with side dishes like many other restaurants, but the way they present them is unlike anywhere else and is creative, making the dining experience here stand out even more."
It also mentioned Jungsik's menu, stating, "The dishes are very original and flawlessly presented," adding, "It is a highly satisfying meal that makes you nod unconsciously while dining."
