One-Stop Export and Order Support Team Takes Action to Resolve Export Difficulties in the Defense Industry

The One-Stop Export and Order Support Team has taken steps to resolve export difficulties in the defense industry sector. On the 6th, the support team held a meeting at the Korea Export-Import Bank with related organizations including the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, Public Procurement Service, Defense Acquisition Program Administration, Export-Import Bank, Korea Trade Insurance Corporation, KOTRA, and Korea Defense Industry Association, as well as defense industry exporters, to answer companies' questions and provide guidance on export support programs offered by each institution.

This meeting was held to preemptively assess and address challenges faced by related companies, as the defense budget increase plans of then President-elect Trump, NATO's demand for increased defense spending, the prolonged Ukraine-Russia war, and Middle East conflicts could directly or indirectly impact Korea's defense industry.

Companies attending the meeting requested solutions to various difficulties including finance, logistics/customs clearance, and military goods transportation. Government officials, including the support team, explained currently implemented export support projects such as new market entry funding support, overseas company credit investigation services, logistics and customs clearance training programs, and export permit verification systems for exhibition items.

Other issues such as setting preferential guarantee limits for defense companies, expanding the dispatch of customs officers to overseas diplomatic missions, and regular shipment of strategic materials will be continuously discussed with relevant agencies for prompt resolution.

Deputy Head Kim Dong-jun stated, “Amid growing uncertainties and rapidly changing international circumstances ahead of the inauguration of the second Trump administration, K-defense export performance is showing positive results,” and added, “The support team will continue efforts to resolve export difficulties and strengthen overseas expansion capabilities of domestic defense industry companies to achieve the goal of entering the world's top four defense export powers by 2027.”
