Namyangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Joo Gwang-deok) announced on the 6th that it successfully held the ‘2024 Namyangju City Lifelong Learning Performance Sharing Event’ on the 5th at the Jeong Yak-yong Library Performance Hall to share the achievements of lifelong learning projects throughout the year and to activate the network among lifelong learning stakeholders.

The performance sharing event was attended by about 500 people, including Hong Ji-seon, Deputy Mayor of Namyangju City, the Chairman of Namyangju City Council, provincial council members, lifelong learning institutions, clubs, Learning Lighthouse stakeholders, and local residents. The event proceeded in the order of △ congratulatory performance △ commendation of 10 outstanding contributors to lifelong learning △ performance presentation exhibition.
The congratulatory performance featured a three-dimensional reading play that portrayed Dasan Jeong Yak-yong, selected as a UNESCO World Commemorative Figure, and this year’s lifelong learning achievements through theatrical elements, receiving great applause from the audience.
Additionally, a total of 274 works including △ paintings △ leather crafts △ accessories, which are the achievements of this year’s lifelong learning, were exhibited in the first-floor lobby and the second-floor cultural lecture room. In particular, the city supported real-time viewing of the exhibition through dual live streaming using a digital platform so that elderly and disabled attendees with mobility difficulties could also enjoy the exhibition in real time.
Deputy Mayor Hong Ji-seon said, “This performance sharing event demonstrated the possibility that citizens’ learning can lead not only to personal growth but also to the development of the local community,” and added, “We will continue to inherit the practical learning spirit of Jeong Yak-yong and create a lifelong learning environment in which everyone can participate.”
