Goyang-si to Host 2024 Second Half Active Administration Best Practices Competition

Online Public Review Conducted on 'Sotong24' Until the 12th

Goyang Special City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced on the 6th that it will select outstanding public officials and excellent employees of affiliated public institutions who have demonstrated proactive administration for citizen happiness at the ‘2024 Second Half Goyang City Proactive Administration Best Practices Competition’ to be held on the 20th.

This competition expanded the scope of proactive administration by selecting not only public officials who actively promoted their work and achieved results but also best practices of proactive administration from affiliated public institutions.

In the finals, 11 cases (9 public officials, 2 public institutions) that passed the preliminary screening were selected from 42 proactive administration cases submitted by each department (38 public officials, 4 public institutions).

The outstanding cases by public officials advancing to the finals include ▲ Completion of supply of living countermeasure land at Kintex (Strategic Industry Division) ▲ Preventing solitary deaths with residents and creating a safe care village! (Wonsin-dong, Deogyang-gu) ▲ Conflict resolution for Seoul’s undesirable facilities through proactive administration as a catalyst (Communication and Cooperation Officer) ▲ Solving delinquent debtor bank account seizures via KakaoTalk with a change of perspective! (Collection Division) ▲ Creative ideas generating hundreds of millions in non-tax revenue and urban branding, hitting two birds with one stone! (Culture and Arts Division) ▲ Awakening the sleeping Haengjusanseong Fortress! (Tourism Division) ▲ Startup companies in crisis with a 70% failure rate! Pioneering new paths through collaboration with large shopping malls (Enterprise Support Division) ▲ Major transformation of the household waste treatment system: budget DOWN↓, processing volume UP↑ (Resource Circulation Division) ▲ Reducing livestock manure odor by utilizing discarded coffee grounds! Enhancing horticultural crop growth! Carbon reduction and resource circulation~!! (Agricultural Technology Center R&D Division).

The outstanding cases from public institutions include ▲ Improving citizen access and convenience to city-owned properties through low-budget, citizen-experienced projects (Goyang Urban Management Corporation) ▲ Automatically completing contract documents for private contracts using Excel! Cutting contract administrative work by 50%, increasing public satisfaction! (Goyang City Youth Foundation).

For outstanding public official cases, one grand prize, two excellence awards, and three merit awards will be selected by combining the results of the preliminary online public evaluation (20%) and the final presentation evaluation (80%). For outstanding public institution cases, one grand prize and one excellence award will be selected based on the final presentation evaluation (100%).

The preliminary online public evaluation will be held from December 6 to 12 on the ‘Sotong24 (formerly On-Gukmin Sotong)’ website, where membership registration or SNS simple login is required to participate in the public evaluation section.

Meanwhile, the city holds proactive administration best practice competitions every year in the first and second halves to discover and award proactive administration best practices that Goyang Special City citizens can feel, thereby spreading a culture of proactive administration.
