According to Chuncheon City, at around 11:40 a.m. on the 29th of last month, Manager Kim and his staff, who were passing through National Road No. 46, were the first to witness the rockfall site. At that time, about 150 tons of rocks had fallen, blocking the road, and vehicles using the national road were traveling at speeds exceeding 80 km/h, creating a situation that could have easily led to a serious accident.

In response, Manager Kim and two staff members did not just pass by despite the ongoing risk of further rockfalls; they got out of the vehicle and calmly guided the vehicles behind them. Thanks to their precise judgment, not a single vehicle was damaged.

In particular, Site Manager Kim Joo-won immediately deployed an excavator working at a nearby construction site to the rockfall site and quickly removed the rocks blocking the road. Thanks to Manager Kim’s quick decision and prompt action, the first lane was secured, resolving the traffic congestion.

Manager Kim said, “I just did what any citizen should do, but since the mayor personally gave me a plaque of appreciation, I am rather the one who is thankful.”
