Nowon-gu Designated as First Alley-type Shopping District... Near Gyeongchun Line Gongneung Forest Trail
Registration as Onnuri Gift Certificate Affiliate and Eligibility for Government and Seoul City Public Project Applications Enabled
Nowon-gu (Mayor Oh Seung-rok) announced that it has designated the first alley-type shopping district to revitalize the local commercial area.
An "alley-type shopping district" is a system that strengthens support for small business owners in alley commercial areas that do not fall under traditional markets or shopping districts but meet certain conditions. It is an area within 2,000㎡ where 30 or more stores operated by small business owners are densely concentrated, and the application must be submitted by a merchant organization with the consent of more than half of all merchants.
Once designated as an alley-type shopping district, it becomes possible to register as an Onnuri gift certificate affiliated store and apply for government support projects, allowing for various types of assistance.
The district comprehensively considered whether the designation criteria were met, the characteristics of the area, and its development potential through the Alley-type Shopping District Deliberation Committee, and on the 5th, deliberated and resolved the designation of the "Gongneung Cheolgil Alley-type Shopping District."
The Gongneung Cheolgil Alley-type Shopping District consists of 50 stores forming a commercial area within 2,925㎡. It is adjacent to the Gyeongchun Line Forest Trail and Gongneung-dong Dokkaebi Market, and is an alley commercial area densely populated with restaurants and cafes.
The district plans to actively promote the designation procedures and support benefits of alley-type shopping districts to local alley commercial areas, as registering as an Onnuri gift certificate affiliated store greatly helps increase customer inflow and sales, with the aim of increasing the number of designated alley-type shopping districts.
Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, said, "Through this designation of the alley-type shopping district, a foundation has been laid for revitalizing alley commercial areas," and added, "We will strive to actively discover new alley-type shopping districts to support small business owners who are struggling due to prolonged economic downturn and weakened consumer sentiment."
