Assemblyman Yoon Geon-yeong "If Not Treason, Then What?"
Assemblywoman Jo Eun-hee "Can No Longer Attend Meetings"
Democratic Party lawmakers fiercely criticized President Yoon Seok-yeol's declaration of martial law as a 'coup' and 'treason,' prompting People Power Party lawmakers to walk out of the National Assembly's Public Administration and Security Committee meeting.
On the morning of the same day, Democratic Party lawmaker Yoon Geon-young stated at the full meeting of the Public Administration and Security Committee, "This meeting is being held based on an agreement between the ruling and opposition parties to uncover the truth about the coup by Yoon Seok-yeol," adding, "The ruling party's secretary received a call and left, then suddenly all members walked out. I sternly warn the People Power Party leadership and ruling party lawmakers."
Yoon said, "This is an incident where the military conducted operations and pointed guns at the people. This is not something to be glossed over," and added, "It is an event where a coup that denies the history of the Republic of Korea occurred, and we are here to question the police, who are the forces that colluded."
Yoon continued, "Is treason such a painful charge? If the crime committed by Yoon Seok-yeol is not treason, then what is it?" He criticized, "Who exactly are you protecting and trying to please? Lawmakers work for the people, not for the president. Those lawmakers who left this place now are betraying the people."
People Power Party lawmaker Cho Eun-hee said, "The opposition party is already judging this as treason and proceeding with the meeting. Then why hold a current issue inquiry?" and added, "I think I can no longer attend."
