Use content in the 'Shorts' tab within the mobile app
Provides main episode viewing, bookmarking, and personalized recommendation features
Plans to launch short-form dramas and entertainment shows next year
Korean native online video service (OTT) TVING announced on the 5th that it will launch a 'short-form' video service. It will provide one-minute vertical short-form content optimized for mobile within the TVING application (app).
The short-form service is available to all TVING members, both paid and free. By selecting the 'Shorts' tab within the mobile app, users can access short-form content through a vertical player. A key feature is the ability to freely watch both short-form videos and full-length dramas and entertainment shows within the OTT app.
TVING offers ▲ TVING original series, entertainment, and documentaries ▲ tvN, Mnet dramas, entertainment, and cultural programs ▲ sports such as the 'KBO League' and 'Professional Basketball,' including highlight videos produced based on the TVING library, as well as mashup videos that group multiple works by theme or topic. Going forward, TVING plans to diversify content types by summarizing and reorganizing existing content narratives.
User viewing convenience will also be enhanced. While watching short-form content, selecting the 'Watch Full Version' button allows users to navigate to the main page of the corresponding content, and the 'Wishlist' feature can also be utilized.
Additionally, a 'personalized recommendation' service will be provided based on users' content consumption patterns. This is expected to have a curation effect where users can experience the full version in advance through short-form videos and discover their preferences.
Exploration features will also be offered in the future, such as continuing to watch series-type short-form content reconstructed by characters or stories from existing content on the same page, or classifying short-form content based on categories.
TVING is building a lineup aiming to launch original short-form dramas and entertainment shows next year and plans to increase the quantity of high-quality short-form content.
A TVING representative stated, "In response to changes in media consumption trends, we launched the 'short-form' service to provide an optimized integrated service on a single platform."
