Daesang 'Financial Services Commission Chairman's Award'
Samsung Securities has been honored with the Grand Prize at the '2024 Asia Capital Investment Awards.' Samsung Securities has strengthened its wealth management (WM) service capabilities targeting ultra-high-net-worth individuals by operating SNI and Family Office services. Thanks to quickly launching institutional investor-grade products linked with corporate finance (IB) to meet VVIP demand, SNI assets have surpassed 100 trillion KRW. The total retail deposit assets reached 320 trillion KRW as of the first half of this year. Its performance on the IB stage this year is also remarkable, including handling large-scale IPO deals worth trillions of won.
Samsung Securities, known as a traditional powerhouse in WM, has its greatest strength in customized services for ultra-high-net-worth individuals. In 2010, it introduced SNI, the industry's first dedicated brand for ultra-high-net-worth clients. SNI membership requires assets of at least 3 billion KRW. In 2020, it launched Family Office services for families with investable assets of at least 100 billion KRW, providing services from asset management to inheritance. Currently, the Family Office serves 100 families with deposit assets totaling around 30 trillion KRW. The secret to captivating ultra-high-net-worth clients lies in access to various products such as IB-linked private loans and investments in unlisted subsidiaries of domestic conglomerates. The company has also exclusively supplied private alternative funds from global top-tier asset managers like GS, Carlyle, and MBK in Korea.
This year, Samsung Securities has also stood out in the IPO market. It was appointed as the lead underwriter for SGI Seoul Guarantee Insurance, DN Solutions, and Lotte Global Logistics. As of August, it handled six companies including Inix, No Brand, Gridwiz, Haas, and iBeam Technology. Another unique feature of Samsung Securities is its strength in the fintech sector, demonstrated when it served as the lead underwriter during the integrated listing of Woori Financial Group.
There is a growing trend of strengthening WM and IB linked sales by breaking down departmental silos. Among the companies for which Samsung Securities underwrote IPOs, Inix, Gigavis, Geumyang Green Power, and Aegic Land completed deals through WM-IB collaboration models. The 160 billion KRW exchangeable bond (EB) issuance by Nongshim is also an example of such collaboration. The overall IB performance is on the rise. The net fee income from the IB division in the first half of the year increased by 29% compared to the same period last year. During the same period, underwriting and advisory fee income surged by 65%.
