Actor Byeon Woo-seok to Star in Romance Drama with IU as Next Project

'21st Century Daegun Buin' to Air in the Second Half of 2025

Actor Byeon Woo-seok will star in a romance drama with singer and actress IU (real name Lee Ji-eun).

Kakao Entertainment announced on the 2nd that IU and Byeon Woo-seok have been cast in MBC's new drama "21segi Daegun Buin" (planned by Kang Dae-geon, written by Yoo Ah-in).

Set in the 21st-century constitutional monarchy of South Korea, the drama depicts a romance that breaks social status barriers between a woman who is a chaebol but of commoner status and a sad man who is the king's son but has nothing. IU will play Seong Hee-joo, the second daughter of a chaebol family. She is a character whose commoner status becomes an obstacle in her life, leading her to become involved with Lee An Daegun. Byeon Woo-seok will portray Lee An Daegun.

The drama was selected through MBC's script contest and is produced by MBC and Kakao Entertainment. It is scheduled to air in the second half of 2025.
