On the 29th, the Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul announced that Moon was sent to the prosecution without detention on charges of violating the Public Health Control Act.
According to the police, Moon is suspected of operating a lodging business through the lodging platform Airbnb without registering the officetel in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, as a lodging business under the Public Health Control Act. Earlier, on the 15th, she was also sent to the prosecution on charges of illegal lodging business in Jeju Island.
The police received investigation requests from Yeongdeungpo-gu, complaints from civic groups, and petitions from the National Sinmungo, and after registering Moon as a suspect, conducted a non-public summons investigation on the 23rd. It is reported that the police investigated whether the officetel building in Yeongdeungpo-gu, purchased in June 2021, and the villa in Yangpyeong-dong, Yeongdeungpo-gu, which she owned before moving to Thailand, were used as illegal lodging businesses.
