Energy Corporation Receives Presidential Citation as 'Outstanding Public Procurement Institution' for Contributions to Improving SME Product Purchase System

The Korea Energy Agency was selected as an outstanding public institution for public procurement and received the Presidential Citation at the '2024 Public Procurement Promotion Conference' held on the 28th at the Grand Walkerhill Seoul.

The public procurement system is a legal system that requires public institutions such as national agencies and local governments to prioritize purchasing products from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The Ministry of SMEs and Startups holds the Public Procurement Promotion Conference annually to activate this system and reward public institutions and contributors who have helped increase public procurement.

The Agency improved various systems to promote public procurement, including strengthening internal evaluation indicators for increasing purchases, mandating the preparation of a 'Pre-Review Report on Public Procurement System Implementation,' introducing a real-time monitoring system, and operating a preferential system for socially disadvantaged enterprises. In particular, focusing on startup companies and technology development products, the purchase amount and purchase rate have continuously increased for three consecutive years, playing a pioneering role in supporting SMEs' market access in public procurement.

Due to these efforts, the Agency exceeded all government-recommended targets for SMEs, women-owned businesses, disabled-owned businesses, and startups for two consecutive years, contributing to win-win cooperation and market support with SMEs, and was recognized with the highest honor in the outstanding public institution category for public procurement, the Presidential Citation.

Lee Sang-hoon, Director of the Korea Energy Agency, stated, "We will continue to expand public procurement of SME products and make efforts for win-win growth and cooperation with SMEs. Through win-win cooperation with SMEs, we will do our best to fulfill our social responsibility as a public institution."
