Choo Kyung-ho: "Opposition must pass Shin Young-dae arrest motion... Prosecutor impeachment hinders Lee Jae-myung's indictment maintenance"

Efforts to Amend the Yosangseol Special Prosecutor Rules Called "Unconstitutional Trick"

On the 28th, Choo Kyung-ho, floor leader of the People Power Party, pressured that the arrest motion for Shin Young-dae, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea under prosecution for bribery in a solar power project and manipulation of primary election polls, must be passed.

At the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly that day, Floor Leader Choo stated, "Waiving immunity from arrest was one of Lee Jae-myung's top 10 presidential pledges. If the conscience of the Democratic Party of Korea is alive, they must pass the arrest motion for Representative Shin today."

On the same day, the arrest motion for Representative Shin will be put to a vote in the plenary session of the National Assembly. Floor Leader Choo argued, "If the arrest motion for Representative Shin is rejected, it is an admission that the Democratic Party's unified stance is nothing more than a criminal shield cartel."

Regarding the impeachment motion against the prosecutors investigating Lee Jae-myung, he also pointed out, "At this point, the Democratic Party intends not only personal revenge against the prosecutors who investigated their leader but to paralyze the entire prosecution," adding, "It is to obstruct the maintenance of the indictment in Lee Jae-myung's second trial and to systematically hinder investigations and prosecutions related to the money envelope incident at the party convention and Democratic Party lawmakers."

Earlier, the Democratic Party unilaterally passed impeachment motions against Kang Baek-shin, deputy chief prosecutor of the Seongnam branch of the Suwon District Prosecutors' Office, and Eom Hee-jun, chief prosecutor of the Bucheon branch of the Incheon District Prosecutors' Office, who investigated the Daejang-dong and Baekhyeon-dong development corruption cases involving Lee Jae-myung. They plan to hold impeachment hearings for them on December 11.

Regarding the permanent special prosecutor regulation amendment bill that the Democratic Party announced it would process in the plenary session that day, he described it as a "unconstitutional and illegal reckless trick to seize investigative and prosecutorial powers by the opposition party," labeling it a political act. It is a political judgment by the Democratic Party to simultaneously pursue a special prosecutor law for Mrs. Kim and a permanent special prosecutor.

The amendment to the permanent special prosecutor candidate recommendation rules excludes the two seats recommended by the ruling party from the permanent special prosecutor candidate recommendation committee, which consists of seven members, in cases where the president or their family is involved in an investigation.

He also opposed the submission of the National Assembly Act amendment bill, pushed by the Democratic Party to prevent government budget bills and supplementary budget bills from being automatically submitted to the plenary session, calling it a "law to deliberately delay budget processing by ignoring the constitutional deadline for budget approval, effectively holding the national budget hostage."
