Family Caregiving Youth Intensive Discovery Period to Run Until the 6th of Next Month
Taean County in South Chungcheong Province, which is making every effort to identify those in the welfare blind spots, is now focusing on alleviating the difficulties faced by local youth who have been marginalized by various policies.
The county announced on the 26th that, in order to address the welfare blind spots for youth caregivers, it has designated the period from the 21st to December 6th as the "Intensive Discovery Period for Youth Family Caregivers" and has launched an initiative to identify "youth in crisis" throughout the county.
This project aims to share the difficulties of young people who lack awareness of their eligibility for welfare and to discover new projects. The county estimates that there are about 100 youth in crisis who fall into welfare blind spots within its jurisdiction.
The target group includes local youth aged 13 to 39 who are solely responsible for caring for individuals in medical crisis, such as elderly people with long-term care needs or registered persons with disabilities.
The county plans to provide integrated services for young people and to establish a user-preference-centered service delivery system. Specifically, users will be able to selectively access basic services (in-home care, housekeeping services) and specialized services (meal and nutrition management, psychological support, social dining, etc.) according to their needs.
To this end, during the designated period, the county will inform each township and village that these individuals are subject to being identified as part of the local human safety net, and will actively work to discover potential cases through village leader meetings and broadcasts to raise awareness of the need for this initiative.
A county official stated, "We will ensure that local youth marginalized by welfare policies can receive appropriate social security benefits," and added, "We will continue our efforts at the county level so that youth in crisis can become healthy members of society."
