Publication of the '2023 Social Survey'... Promoting Scientific Military Administration
Yeongdeok-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, announced the results of the "2023 Social Survey" on the 21st, which was conducted to serve as basic data for county administration such as regional development and welfare policy implementation by assessing the quantitative and qualitative levels of residents' lives.
This social survey is a statistical report compiled by surveyors who directly visited sample households consisting of residents aged 15 and older to collect data on subjective perceptions and social interests.
According to the survey results, the overall life satisfaction of Yeongdeok residents increased by 0.13 points from 6.28 in 2022 to 6.41 in 2023, and the living standard rose by 0.21 points to 6.17, indicating a general rise in the subjective happiness of Yeongdeok residents.
Regarding housing satisfaction, the proportion of residents living in the county for over 30 years was 62.8%, which is 12.6% higher than the overall Gyeongbuk Province, and 85.0% responded that they intend to continue residing in Yeongdeok-gun, 12.9% higher than the provincial average.
In the environmental satisfaction category, satisfaction with air and water quality scored 4.2 out of 5 points each, while soil, noise, vibration, and green environment each scored 4.1, all of which were higher than the averages for Gyeongbuk Province.
However, the perception of job sufficiency showed that 59.8% felt jobs were "insufficient," compared to 29.3% who felt they were "sufficient." As a solution to population decline, job creation through attracting companies was ranked first at 27.3%, highlighting the challenge of securing employment.
Kim Myung-jung, Director of the Planning and Budget Office, commented, "Through this social survey, we were able to effectively grasp the overall living standards and residents' perceptions in the community. Based on this, we will continue to build on the highly rated county administration's competitiveness and establish policies to improve and develop areas that need enhancement, so that residents can further increase their life satisfaction."
