The workshop was organized to appreciate the efforts of the resident autonomy committee members who contribute to the cultural activities and welfare improvement of local residents, and to strengthen the capabilities of these village leaders to revitalize resident autonomy.

The event was attended by about 300 people, including Mayor Bang Se-hwan, National Assembly member So Byung-hoon, City Council Chairman Heo Kyung-haeng, city council members, Lee Seo-yong, chairman of the Resident Autonomy Council, and resident autonomy committee members from each eup, myeon, and dong.

During the opening ceremony of the first part, certificates of commendation were awarded to resident autonomy committee members who have contributed to the activation of resident autonomy. The committee members performed a towel performance to support small business owners, aiming to invigorate the local economy, which has been weakened by the economic downturn, with one heart and one mind.

The second part featured a lecture by Professor Jung Deok-hee, a poet, essayist, and broadcaster, on the theme of "The Art of Happiness, Satisfaction of the Five Senses," teaching resident autonomy committee members who serve the community how to love themselves, which received great response from the participants.

Following this, there was a time to promote harmony with congratulatory performances by the Dochuk-myeon Resident Autonomy Center Nanta Club 'Dochuk Nanta,' the Opo Broadcast Dance Club 'Sunak Crew,' and a singing contest among resident autonomy committee members from eup, myeon, and dong.

Lee Seo-yong, chairman of the Gwangju City Resident Autonomy Council, expressed his thoughts, saying, "I am pleased that a place was created for the 11 resident autonomy committees to communicate and harmonize with each other, and I expect that this workshop will serve as an opportunity to unite the capabilities of Gwangju City resident autonomy committee members and realize true resident autonomy."

Mayor Bang Se-hwan said, "I thank the resident autonomy committee members who strive to provide citizens with opportunities to enjoy culture through various program operations," and added, "I hope that this workshop will serve as a turning point for the Resident Autonomy Council to take the lead in further activating resident autonomy in Gwangju City."
