The 28th Paju Jangdan Bean Festival, established as a representative festival of Paju, will be held at Imjingak Square for three days from the 22nd to the 24th under the theme "Traditional Taste, Modern Style." This festival is expected to welcome visitors with a variety of programs and abundant attractions.
According to Paju City (Mayor Kim Kyung-il) on the 19th, this year's Paju Jangdan Bean Festival is organized around four themes: 'Alkong (things to see),' 'Dalkong (things to eat),' 'Nolkong (things to play),' and 'Salkong (things to buy).'
Major attractions include the 'Paju Jangdan Bean Exhibition Hall,' where visitors can get an overview of the historical tradition of Paju Jangdan Beans, and 'street performances' featuring direct participation by Paju citizens.
In the food section, freshly made tofu, bread, rice cakes, and other items made from Paju Jangdan Beans will be sold, and local restaurants using Paju agricultural products will operate to enhance the festival's flavor.
In the play section, various experiential activities are prepared, including the festival's signature program 'Making Little Meju,' 'Bean Threshing Experience' to feel traditional farming culture, 'Kimchi Making Experience' to add a personal touch, and nostalgic '7080 Memory Games' that evoke fond memories.
In the shopping section, a marketplace showcasing various agricultural and specialty products, including Paju Jangdan Beans and processed goods, will be operated, and a traditional market recreating the warm atmosphere of a countryside market will be set up to provide visitors with a special experience.
For visitor convenience, a shuttle bus running between Munsan Station and the Imjingak event site will operate frequently. Additionally, to become an environmentally friendly festival, reusable containers will be used instead of disposable ones.
The chairman of the Jangdan Bean Festival Promotion Committee said, "The Paju Jangdan Bean Festival is a competitive festival that has been selected for seven consecutive years since 2017 in the Gyeonggi Tourism Festival Support Project organized by Gyeonggi Province," and added, "We promise to offer visitors who come to the Paju Jangdan Bean Festival memorable experiences not only with Paju Jangdan Beans but also through various attractions and activities."
