Goyang City's 70 River Guardians 'Goyang River Network' Case Presentation Held

14 Organizations, Over 40 Participants
Creating a Space for Communication and Harmony

Goyang Special City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced on the 19th that on the 15th, it held the ‘Goyang River Network’ case presentation and workshop at the Goyang Talent Education Center and Pocheon Art Valley to share examples of clean river maintenance and promote communication and harmony.

At this case presentation, attended by over 40 members from 14 river network organizations, various distinctive activities carried out by each organization until the end of October were presented and shared with the members, providing a meaningful time to organize future activities.


Afterwards, participants moved to Pocheon Art Valley and spent time in harmony by exploring while listening to a cultural guide’s explanation about the Hantan River UNESCO Global Geopark.


A city official expressed gratitude to the various organizations of the Goyang River Network, which greatly contribute to improving the river ecosystem in Goyang City, and stated, “We will spare no support to ensure that river environment cleanup activities and river awareness improvement campaigns continue.”


Meanwhile, Goyang Special City is a metropolitan city in the Seoul metropolitan area with a population of over 1 million, possessing 70 rivers including 1 national river, 18 local rivers, and 51 small rivers.


The ‘Goyang River Network,’ a group of various organizations voluntarily participating and volunteering to maintain these 70 rivers, has conducted 478 river cleanup activities until the end of October.


They have carried out a total of 569 activities including 12 ecological education sessions, 69 river monitoring sessions, and 2 river campaigns, with a total of 12,031 participants.
