Hanwha Group announced on the 17th that Chairman Kim Seung-yeon recently visited the Hanwha Aerospace Boeun plant to encourage employees. Hanwha Aerospace is a key defense affiliate within the group, and Chairman Kim has newly assumed the position of chairman.
After receiving reports on management status and strategy, Chairman Kim stated, "To prepare for the future defense market where artificial intelligence (AI) and unmanned technologies are core, we will develop solutions tailored to various future battlefield environments to secure a competitive edge in the global defense market."
In the guestbook, he wrote, "Let us advance beyond self-reliant defense to become a global forward base for protecting the free world."
Hanwha explained, "The Boeun plant produces cutting-edge weapon systems such as ballistic missile interceptors for the long-range surface-to-air guided missile system known as the Korean-style THAAD, and the Cheonggeom guided missile, which can be used on various platforms, planning to respond to future battlefields."
Chairman Kim also visited Hanwha Global Division, encouraging them by saying, "Based on the group's origin in the explosives business, they are showing outstanding performance in the global market, extending beyond Korea to Australia, North and South America, and Europe."
Chairman Kim received a plaque of appreciation from the Hanwha Global Division labor union. Present at the site were Kim Dong-kwan, Vice Chairman and head of Hanwha and Hanwha Aerospace Strategy Division; Yang Ki-won, CEO of Hanwha Global Division; and Son Jae-il, CEO of Hanwha Aerospace.
