Kim Yo-jong, Vice Department Director of the Workers' Party and sister of North Korean State Affairs Commission Chairman Kim Jong-un, expressed opposition to the leaflets sent to North Korea.
In a statement released on the 17th through the Korean Central News Agency, Kim Yo-jong reacted against the "various political propaganda leaflets and items pushed in by South Korean trash" that fell near the border and deep into the interior the previous day.
She emphasized, "We strongly condemn the despicable and lowly acts of the South Korean bastards who ignored our repeated warnings and provocatively carried out the distribution of anti-Republic political slander propaganda."
Kim also warned, "There is a limit to patience," adding, "The anger of our people toward the most detestable hybrid mutts has reached the ends of the sky. They will pay the price."
Meanwhile, photos released by North Korea on the same day showed balloons containing paper leaflets, snacks, medicines, and children's nutritional supplements either fallen on the ground or caught on trees and power lines.
