Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that it will conduct the "2024 Basic Household and Housing Survey" targeting all residences and households in the area, including vacant houses, until November 27, laying the foundation for future policies.
The "Basic Household and Housing Survey," led by Statistics Korea, is conducted every five years to gather basic information on residences and households within the region.
In particular, this year's "Basic Household and Housing Survey" is an important preliminary survey for the "2025 Population and Housing Census," which marks its 100th anniversary. The survey method has been improved to reduce the burden on residents and enhance convenience.
By utilizing administrative data and spatial information, the survey target has been reduced, and an automatic content review function has been added to the survey system.
More than 60 surveyors, who completed prior training, will conduct the basic survey from November 8 to November 27, targeting approximately 150,000 residences and households, excluding apartments that are between 5 and 30 years old.
The survey items include a total of 14 categories such as ▲address ▲type of residence ▲vacancy status ▲type of collective facility ▲presence of rooftop or semi-basement ▲total number of rooms ▲number of residential facilities. The survey will be conducted electronically through on-site verification, and for some households without a resident manager, such as detached houses, face-to-face surveys will be conducted concurrently.
Additionally, the district will actively promote the "Basic Household and Housing Survey." It plans to collaborate with related organizations and professional groups to encourage active participation and interest from residents.
The survey results will be used as the basis for accurate survey district settings and sample extraction frames for the Population and Housing Census and the Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries Census conducted in 2025. The status of rooftops and semi-basements will also be used as basic data for future housing support policy development.
Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, stated, "Since the results of the Basic Household and Housing Survey are used as fundamental data for various policy formulations, we ask for the active support and cooperation of all residents." He added, "Especially as the Basic Household and Housing Survey is an important survey that diagnoses the present and prepares for the future, we will proceed without any setbacks and successfully complete it."
