Gwangju Transportation Corporation is gaining popularity by offering an experiential program featuring a future-oriented urban railway safety management solution utilizing advanced artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
Gwangju Transportation Corporation announced on the 13th that it is showcasing an experiential booth for the 'Digital Twin Integrated Control Solution' in collaboration with LG Uplus at the '2024 Korea Government Expo,' held for three days until the 15th at the Kim Dae-jung Convention Center, presenting cases of integrated urban railway control through digital twin and intelligent video analysis to citizens.
This experience presents an integrated control program that implements Gwangju Urban Railway stations using 'Digital Twin' technology, an advanced method that replicates the real world in three-dimensional digital form. Utilizing 'deep learning' video analysis technology, where AI autonomously learns data patterns, the system quickly identifies and automatically alerts control centers of unusual situations at stations, such as fare evasion, fall accidents, or assistance needed by vulnerable passengers, allowing users to directly observe the process.
Based on its experience participating in the development of this solution, the corporation plans to accelerate efforts to strengthen smart station management capabilities using big data and IoT. Especially with the opening of Urban Railway Line 2 scheduled for 2026, it aims to actively enhance cutting-edge technology applying AI in preparation for the era of unmanned operation, ensuring citizen safety and convenience.
Cho Ik-moon, president of Gwangju Transportation Corporation, stated, “We are actively participating in related research activities to prepare for the commercialization of AI technology and to secure citizen convenience,” adding, “We will continue to do our best to implement future-oriented transportation services through advanced technology to increase citizen satisfaction.”
