Gwangju City Holds the 3rd Meeting of the Disability Welfare Committee

Mayor Bang Se-hwan "Please Establish a Comprehensive Disability Welfare Plan Suited to Gwangju's Characteristics"

Gwangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Bang Se-hwan) announced on the 12th that it held the 3rd meeting of the Disabled Welfare Committee for the promotion of welfare for the disabled in Gwangju City at the City Hall Vision Hall on the 8th.

The members of the Gwangju City Disabled Welfare Committee consist of 15 people, including the mayor as the chairman, the director of the Welfare and Culture Bureau, heads of organizations related to the disabled, university professors, and workers at centers related to the disabled.

This meeting was held as a commissioning ceremony for the committee members and as an interim report session on the establishment of Gwangju City's 2nd Comprehensive Plan for Disabled Welfare.

After a report from the research service agency, Incheon National University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation, the committee members exchanged questions and answers and shared opinions on the establishment of Gwangju City's Comprehensive Plan for Disabled Welfare.

The city plans to finalize the 5-year comprehensive plan for disabled welfare in Gwangju City by collecting and reflecting opinions from the interim report meeting.

Mayor Bang Se-hwan said, “I hope that the valuable insights of the committee members, who have abundant knowledge and experience regarding disability issues, will be well reflected to establish a comprehensive plan for disabled welfare tailored to the characteristics of Gwangju City,” and added, “Based on the opinions of the committee members, we will establish the 2nd Comprehensive Plan for Disabled Welfare in Gwangju City to make Gwangju a welfare city where disabled people can live better.”
