Attendance at Seoul Metropolitan Council Administrative Audit
"Inquiry into the Selection Process of Mosu for 4 Consecutive Years"
Chef An Seong-jae, who appeared as a judge on the Netflix cooking variety show 'Heukbaek Yori-sa,' will attend the Seoul Metropolitan Council's administrative audit on the morning of the 8th. On this day, the council plans to hear his position regarding his recently closed restaurant 'Mosoo,' which was selected as a Seoul Gourmet Week restaurant for four consecutive years.
Chef An expressed his intention to attend the administrative audit of the Seoul Metropolitan Council's Culture, Sports, and Tourism Committee (Mun-gwang-wi) to the council the day before.
Earlier, Kim Gyu-nam, a member of the People Power Party in the Seoul Metropolitan Council, requested Chef An Seong-jae to appear as a witness for the administrative audit. The reason is to verify the fairness of the 'Seoul Gourmet 100 Selection' project, as the restaurant 'Mosoo,' operated by Chef An, was selected as a Seoul Gourmet Week restaurant for four consecutive years from 2020 to last year.
Chef An led 'Mosoo Seoul,' a restaurant that received the highest rating of 3 stars in the latest Michelin Guide Seoul (2024), which provides global gourmet information. 'Mosoo Seoul,' which opened in 2017, closed earlier this year after the contract with its investor CJ CheilJedang ended.
Councilor Kim said, "Mosoo was selected four times in a row in public projects promoted by the Seoul city government, and I plan to question whether it is appropriate to concentrate selections on one side from a policy perspective. I also want to hear about the overall industry situation and ask whether Chef An Seong-jae participated as a judge."
Meanwhile, Heo Gu-yeon, president of the Korea Baseball Organization, who was also selected as a witness on the same day, submitted a letter of absence.
