Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Jang Se-il) announced on the 5th that it will provide support for incontinence treatment costs for low-income seniors aged 60 and over.
The incontinence treatment support project, which will be implemented this time, was finally selected through a public contest promoted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, securing project funds.
The incontinence treatment support project is designed to help seniors maintain their health and quality of life by providing timely treatment for incontinence, which limits the social participation of the elderly, by supporting medical expenses and the use of medical devices related to incontinence.
The medical expense support project provides financial assistance up to 1 million KRW per year for medical expenses related to incontinence, including examination fees, medication costs, physical therapy fees, and surgery costs, for low-income individuals (basic livelihood security recipients, near-poverty class, single-parent families) diagnosed with incontinence aged 60 and over.
However, those receiving emergency welfare medical support or indemnity insurance payments are not eligible for duplicate support.
The medical device support project equips medical devices within the Dementia Safety Center at the public health center to allow patients to conveniently use the devices by visiting the center.
Eligible individuals can apply by visiting the public health center with their ID and required documents, and treatment costs incurred before application within this year can also be reimbursed retroactively.
A public health center official said, “We hope that through the incontinence treatment cost support project, more seniors will receive timely treatment for incontinence and enjoy a happy old age,” adding, “We will do our best to ensure that residents can lead healthy and happy lives through various health services in the future.”
