In Yoon-Myung Transcript, "Excuses That 'Not a Public Official' Are Unconvincing"
On the 3rd, Ahn Cheol-soo, a member of the People Power Party, urged President Yoon Suk-yeol to "apologize to the people."
On the same day, Ahn stated on Facebook, "The public sentiment in the Republic of Korea is severe. Recently, the president's approval rating has plummeted to the 10% range."
He explained, "A drop to the 10% range even before reaching the midpoint of the term is a very serious crisis," adding, "The public's judgment of the Yoon Suk-yeol administration was already unleashed like a tsunami in the last general election."
He continued, "(The government) should have focused on the three major reforms such as pension reform and education reform, as well as the livelihood economy, rather than political and ideological battles," and argued, "A sincere apology should have preceded regarding the luxury bag incident and the Deutsche Motors incident."

Ahn added, "The government has regressed in a direction opposing public sentiment," and "It was preoccupied with protecting the cabinet and the Yongsan secretariat, who are responsible for the government's failures."
He also said, "Even in a situation heading toward the collapse of the medical system rather than medical reform, the government continues to maintain the policy failure stance," and "It has ignored a major shift in national policy direction and cooperation and relationship improvement with the opposition party."
Furthermore, he emphasized, "To escape the major crisis caused by the plummeting approval ratings and to normalize state affairs, the president must start again by sincerely reflecting and apologizing to the people."
He also indirectly mentioned the so-called 'Kim Geon-hee Special Prosecutor Act,' saying, "A decisive and preemptive measure regarding Mrs. Kim's issue must be taken."
He stated, "It is already too late to resolve the situation only by installing a special inspector and a second secretariat," and "It has become practically difficult to normalize state affairs without resolving the risks related to Mrs. Kim."
However, he added, "The Democratic Party-style Kim Geon-hee Special Prosecutor Act cannot be passed as is. Harmful provisions must be deleted and promoted through bipartisan agreement."
In addition, he said, "A sincere apology is inevitable regarding the controversy over interference in candidate selection during the president-elect period," and criticized, "Excuses such as 'not being a public official' or 'party members expressing their opinions' are unconvincing."
He also wrote, "The national policy direction must be drastically changed and personnel reshuffled," and "Please make the public feel the change in national policy direction through a large-scale reshuffle of government ministries responsible for the Yoon Suk-yeol administration's policy failures and the Yongsan aides."
Finally, Ahn said, "Former President Park Geun-hye also experienced a plummeting approval rating as the beginning of a crisis," and urged, "I hope the president faces the essence of the crisis, returns to the original intention of Prosecutor Yoon Suk-yeol, and follows public sentiment from the people's perspective. As the president said, the people are always right."
