Gyeongbuk Culture and Tourism Corporation (President Kim Nam-il) and the National Museum of Korean Contemporary History (Director Han Su) announced on the 3rd that they signed a business agreement at the National Museum of Korean Contemporary History's Conference Room 1 in Seoul to reexamine the value of half a century of tourism in the Republic of Korea.
Through this agreement, Gyeongbuk Culture and Tourism Corporation and the National Museum of Korean Contemporary History pledged to share and exhibit materials related to the history of tourism in Korea, cooperate on tourism research projects and academic exchanges, and establish a collaborative network to reexamine tourism history.

Although half a century has passed since the development of tourism in Korea, there are no systematic records, exhibitions, educational, or promotional facilities regarding the development process of domestic tourism. Especially in line with the national strategy aiming to become a global tourism powerhouse, there is a recognized need to reexamine the value of tourism history. Accordingly, it is considered necessary to actively promote this as a key project in the post-APEC era.
Kim Nam-il, President of Gyeongbuk Culture and Tourism Corporation, stated, “The upcoming year 2025 marks the 50th anniversary of the corporation’s establishment and the designation of the Bomun Tourist Complex, and notably, the 2025 APEC Gyeongju Summit will be held, making it a meaningful year. Through this business agreement, we will work together to reexamine the history of tourism in Korea and pioneer a new future for Korean tourism.”
