Yangsan City, Wildfire Watchers and Wildfire Specialized Prevention and Suppression Team Launch Ceremony.
This launching ceremony was organized to expand the workforce prepared for wildfires and to strengthen their capabilities. The wildfire monitors and suppression teams will play a role in preventing wildfire occurrences in advance and minimizing damage through initial response during fires.
In accordance with Article 35 of the Forest Protection Act, the wildfire monitors and suppression team members completed specialized wildfire training last October, including various drills and equipment usage education to enhance their practical response skills. They will patrol areas with high wildfire risk to remove potential hazards in advance and be deployed for rapid initial firefighting when fires occur. Additionally, through regular training and real-world experience, the response capabilities of the monitors and suppression teams will be continuously improved to strengthen the wildfire prevention and response system.
The wildfire monitors and suppression teams will continue their activities in preparation for periods of increased wildfire risk, striving to ensure swift and safe responses in the event of wildfire outbreaks.
Deputy Mayor Jo Hyun-ok stated, “Wildfires are serious disasters that threaten our forests as well as the lives and property of citizens. Due to recent climate change, the risk of large-scale wildfires is increasing,” and added, “We will do our best to prevent and respond to wildfires.”
