Police "Crime Committed After Hiking and Drinking"
A man who caused a disturbance while following women he had never met before, in a drunken state, was arrested.
According to the Seoul Western Police Station and MBN on the 28th, a man in his 40s, Mr. A, was detained on charges of assault and public intoxication at a government office under the Minor Offenses Act. Mr. A is accused of chasing a woman he did not know into a store and assaulting her around 9:20 p.m. on the 27th in a street in Eunpyeong-gu. He is also reported to have assaulted another man who tried to stop him multiple times and caused a disturbance inside the store.
In the released closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage, Mr. A is seen chasing two women for about 80 meters from across the street. When the women took refuge inside a store, Mr. A followed them in and suddenly threw a punch at one of the women. Bystanders who witnessed this tried to restrain Mr. A, but he kicked one of the men who tried to stop him in the right leg. The assaulted man stated, "I still hear ringing in my ears," and added, "I was somewhat relieved that he was not carrying a weapon."
Mr. A reportedly continued to cause a disturbance even while being arrested by the police who responded to the report. The police believe that Mr. A committed the crime after drinking alcohol following a hiking trip, and they are currently investigating the exact circumstances of the incident.
