Gyeonggi Yangju City (Mayor Kang Su-hyun) announced that it has selected five outstanding public officials for regulatory innovation and proactive administration in the first half of 2024, who achieved results by innovating unnecessary regulations and promoting proactive administration based on creativity and expertise.

According to Yangju City on the 30th, 12 cases submitted to the Regulatory Reform Committee were first reviewed based on proactiveness, impact, creativity and expertise, and potential for dissemination. Then, through the deliberation and resolution of the Proactive Administration Committee, five outstanding public officials for regulatory innovation and proactive administration in the first half of 2024 (one grand prize winner and four excellence awardees) were finally selected.

The grand prize winner among the selected outstanding public officials for regulatory innovation and proactive administration this time was the case titled “Expanding the authority of industrial complex resident agreements to basic local government heads to swiftly attract companies and create jobs in the region,” which achieved the excellent award at the “2024 Local Regulatory Innovation Best Practices Competition” hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. This case laid the foundation for revitalizing corporate investment attraction through the revision of enforcement ordinances.

The excellence awardees included cases such as “Budget savings and reduction of industrial complex construction costs through securing national highway funds for the construction of the 1st Gwangsa Bridge expansion project,” “Promotion of Yangju City’s educational development through designation as an education development special zone,” “Securing safety and mobility rights for transportation-vulnerable groups by introducing exclusive vehicles and installing automatic defibrillators in all vehicles,” and “Gyeonggi Province’s first non-budget introduction of foreign language support services for unmanned civil service issuance machines.”

Mayor Kang Su-hyun said, “I thank the employees who have done their best on the front lines to actively carry out their work for regulatory innovation and proactive administration that citizens can feel.” He added, “We will continue to select outstanding public officials for regulatory innovation and proactive administration, provide incentives to boost employee morale, and ultimately strive to establish a proper public service culture for the citizens.”

The awards for the outstanding public officials selected for regulatory innovation and proactive administration will be presented at the year-end closing ceremony.
