KakaoTalk Shopping 'Dangol Market Special Sale'... Supporting Traditional Market Sales Channels

Kakao announced on the 30th that it will hold the 'Dangol Market Special Sale' on KakaoTalk Shopping.

This event was organized by Kakao, Kakao Impact, and the Small Enterprise and Market Service to support the expansion of online sales channels for traditional markets, and will run until November 1st.

The Dangol Market Special Sale is a promotion selling products from traditional markets selected through the excellent market creation program of the Dangol Market project on KakaoTalk Shopping. This is the first online sales event since the launch of the Dangol Market project.

The participating markets include a total of five markets: Busan Bansongkeun Market, Seoul Mangwon Market, Seoul Inheon Market, Sokcho Tourism Fisheries Market, and Pohang Keundonghae Market, with about 40 diverse products sold across 35 stores.

Kakao supported traditional market merchants who are not familiar with online sales by assisting in the development of online sales products, providing one-on-one customized training, and supporting store openings on Talk Store. In particular, to promote sales of traditional market products, a 10% discount coupon will be issued, offering up to 3,000 KRW discount benefits to 50,000 people.

Additionally, Kakao provides each selected market with ▲ up to 20 million KRW in Talk Channel promotion funds ▲ a total of 6 million KRW for Talk Channel message sending and advertising support ▲ offline promotional material production and local advertising marketing activities. Kakao also supports activities that help utilize various Kakao services such as KakaoMap indoor map construction and KakaoPay integration.

Park Yoon-seok, Kakao’s Shared Growth Performance Leader, said, "We expect that traditional market merchants will gain opportunities to expand their business by experiencing product sales online," adding, "We plan to create a best practice case of digital transformation through this opportunity and spread it to more small business owners."

Meanwhile, since 2022, Kakao has been operating 'Project Dangol,' which provides solutions through direct visits to support the digital transformation of small business owners. Project Dangol conducts various projects nationwide targeting small business owners in traditional markets through Dangol Market and local shopping districts through Dangol Street. From 2022 to the present, digital education has been provided to about 2,600 merchants from 186 traditional markets and local shopping district merchant associations nationwide.
