Four Expert Members and 128 Inter-floor Noise Management Committee Members Appointed in Five Districts

Daejeon City announced on the 28th that it will appoint honorary members to the 'Inter-floor Noise Management Committee', which is composed of experts and citizens, to address conflict resolution.

In accordance with the Daejeon City Apartment Management Ordinance, the city has already operated a 30-member Apartment Advisory Group. On this day, the city appointed 4 expert members (in environment, noise, and conflict management) and 128 Inter-floor Noise Management Committee members from the five districts, thereby strengthening expertise in vulnerable areas and enhancing operational effectiveness.

The city plans to use the committee to develop comprehensive and multifaceted solutions for resolving inter-floor noise conflicts, as well as to support policy development, citizen consultations, and professional education.

From 2013 to June of this year, a total of 3,737 complaints have been received through apartment management committees in each district of Daejeon, including 2,492 cases of inter-floor noise and 1,245 cases of secondhand smoke. Of these, only 1,837 cases were resolved through mediation or withdrawal, while 1,900 cases failed to reach an agreement.

Lee Jangwoo, Mayor of Daejeon, stated, "The issue of inter-floor noise is an important matter directly related to citizens' daily lives. Through the operation of the expert advisory committee, we will also strengthen cooperative systems with other local governments to create exemplary cases that can be expanded nationwide."
