Disturbance at Convenience Store... Playing Obscene Material on Subway
It has been confirmed that the channel of an American YouTuber who caused a disturbance in Korea has been deleted.
On the 28th, it was revealed that the channel of Johnny Somali, an American YouTuber known for various disruptive behaviors in Korea, was deleted. It is presumed that YouTube removed the main account for specific reasons. The channel had approximately 760 subscribers, and currently only the secondary account remains.
Previously, Somali sparked controversy by exhibiting strange behavior across Korea. On the 17th, he uploaded a video showing him causing a disturbance at a convenience store. In the video, he played loud music, and when a store employee tried to stop him, he spilled ramen broth on the table and hurled insults at the employee. In another video, he pretended by mistake to play obscene material on the subway and played loud North Korean music on a bus. Furthermore, he continued actions seemingly aimed at attracting attention, such as kissing the Statue of Peace and performing obscene dances.
On the night of the 24th, Somali was also struck in the face by an unidentified man in Seoul. At the time, he was conducting a YouTube live broadcast on his phone with companions when someone suddenly approached and punched Somali in the face. His startled companions shouted, "Why are you doing this?" but the man grabbed Somali's phone, threw it far away, and left the scene. The two chased after the man, asking "Why are you running away?" but were unable to catch him. The identity of the assailant and the reason for the assault have not yet been revealed. Meanwhile, it is reported that Somali had previously caused trouble in Japan and was fined.
Netizens who heard the news responded with comments such as "YouTube's sanctions should continue," "One punch is not enough," and "He should be caught by the police quickly."
