Robotis to Launch Robot Delivery Service in Partnership with Kakao Mobility

ROBOTIS announced on the 28th that it has partnered with Kakao Mobility to launch indoor and outdoor delivery robot services.

The two companies signed an agreement at the ROBOTIS headquarters, setting a common goal to provide efficient delivery services by combining robot technology and mobility platforms. They plan to jointly design and launch new service products that integrate ROBOTIS's indoor and outdoor autonomous delivery robots with Kakao Mobility's platform.

The newly created delivery service is expected to lead the autonomous robot-based delivery market by offering more convenient and innovative delivery solutions close to customers' daily lives.

ROBOTIS will take a leading role in developing and advancing indoor and outdoor delivery service robots based on its expertise in developing, manufacturing, and operating the autonomous delivery robot ‘Gaemi (GAEMI)’. Robots will be installed in various demand locations, including apartments, and will be equipped with forms and functions suitable for the installation sites and uses. The synergy effect with the customized collaborative robot ‘OpenManipulator-Y (OM-Y)’, recently showcased at RoboWorld, and the fully unmanned delivery system utilizing it can also be considered.

Kakao Mobility will focus on developing dispatch algorithms based on autonomous delivery robots and planning new service models using its own robot open API platform ‘BRING-ON’. Given the vast amount of dispatch, routing, and demand forecasting data accumulated through operating ‘Kakao T’, it is analyzed that more efficient service development will be possible.

Kim Byung-soo, CEO of ROBOTIS, stated, “As ROBOTIS’s autonomous robot technology meets Kakao Mobility’s platform service, we will be able to provide innovative delivery services,” adding, “We will do our best to commercialize delivery services using autonomous robots in Korea as soon as possible.”
