"Mrs. Kim Currently Has No Acquaintances at Heerim"
On the 25th, the Presidential Office denied claims that First Lady Kim Geon-hee earned 2.3 billion won in capital gains from stock manipulation related to Deutsche Motors.
A Presidential Office official told reporters that day, "The figure of 2.3 billion won is merely an opinion submitted by the prosecution investigation team during the Moon Jae-in administration in 2022 to the first trial court."
"Both the first and second trial courts judged that the profit was 'incalculable' and that there was 'no causal relationship with stock price manipulation activities,'" the official said. "We will respond strictly to some reports that distort claims not recognized by the court as facts."
Regarding suspicions of collusion between the exhibition planning company Kobana Contents, operated by the First Lady, and its sponsor company Heerim Architects & Planners, the official stated, "Ms. Kim currently does not know anyone at Heerim." On Heerim's accompaniment during overseas trips, the official added, "Overseas business trip companies are selected by economic organizations such as the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry," and "It is neither structured for Ms. Kim to be involved in detail nor has she been involved."
Regarding Heerim's rise as a theme stock during the last presidential election, the official said, "We did not make Heerim a presidential election theme stock," and added, "We strongly express regret over simple speculative articles."
