Emblem Featuring Representative English Initial 'B', Olympic Flame Torch Flame, and Ocean Wave Design
Official Communication Character 'Boogi' Confirmed as Mascot and Poster Symbol for the Event
Busan City has finalized the emblems, mascots, posters, slogans, and mottos for the '106th National Sports Festival' and the '45th National Para Sports Festival,' which will be held in Busan in October 2025.
The 2025 National (Para) Sports Festival, held in Busan for the first time in 25 years since the 81st National Sports Festival (2000), is expected to take place at 120 venues within the city, with a total of 40,000 participants including teams from 17 cities and provinces and overseas Koreans.
Based on the winning entries from last year's public contest for the 2025 National (Para) Sports Festival symbols, the city began development work earlier this year. After conducting design preference voting, the festival symbols were finalized and will be submitted for approval by the Korea Sports Council and Korea Paralympic Committee.
The emblem of the festival incorporates Busan’s representative English initial ‘B’ and the city’s brand colors to depict the dynamic image of Busan as a global hub city moving toward the world and the future, represented by the flame of the torch and the figure of a track athlete.
The torch flame symbolizing the vision and passion of the ‘2025 National (Para) Sports Festival’ is placed at the top, waves representing Busan’s blue sea are positioned at the bottom, and the white space in the center expresses the ‘106th National Sports Festival.’
The mascot was developed using the city’s popular communication character ‘Boogie,’ dressed in sportswear and a headband featuring the National Sports Festival emblem, holding a torch and running as a torchbearer.
The festival slogan was decided as ‘A United Korea in Busan Where We Want to Live,’ and the mottos were chosen as ▲‘Gather in Busan, Spread the Harmony Festival (National Sports Festival)’ and ▲‘Smiling Together! Hand in Hand Together! Together Until the End! (National Para Sports Festival),’ which were the grand prize winners of last year’s public contest hosted by the city for the National Sports Festival symbols.
The city formed the official organizing and executive committees for the festival in May, completed the first allocation of venues for 50 sports in the National Sports Festival and 31 sports in the National Para Sports Festival. It has also begun construction of new venues for mountain sports, squash, tennis, and started renovation and repair of aging facilities in 16 districts, marking the start of full-scale preparations as the next host city.
On the 17th, Busan officially received the festival flag from the 105th National Sports Festival, and plans to select the general director responsible for the opening and closing ceremonies, appoint promotional ambassadors, hold the organizing committee’s inaugural general meeting, and conduct the D-300 day commemorative event in December.
Mayor Park Hyung-jun stated, “With the festival symbols for the ‘2025 National (Para) Sports Festival’ finalized, we will focus on full-scale preparations and promotion.” He added, “We will prepare flawlessly for welcoming guests in all aspects including spectacular opening and closing ceremonies symbolizing ‘Busan, the Global Hub City,’ venues, transportation, tourism, and accommodation. In particular, we will pay special attention to safety management to ensure that everyone can enjoy the National (Para) Sports Festival with peace of mind.”
