On the 17th, Seoul City announced that it held the 14th Urban Planning Committee meeting and approved the amendment of the 'Susong Urban Maintenance-type Redevelopment District 1-7 Zone Maintenance Plan Decision.'

Previously, the maintenance plan was amended and approved by the Urban Planning Committee's delegated subcommittee in May, but it was resubmitted for review due to partial changes in open green spaces and architectural plans reflecting the revised '2030 Seoul Urban and Residential Environment Maintenance Basic Plan' at the end of August.

The Korean Reinsurance Headquarters building located around 80 Susong-dong, Jongno-gu, is a business facility completed in 1985 with 3 basement floors and 12 above-ground floors (total floor area of 39,357㎡). After more than 38 years since completion, issues such as building safety have been raised, and internal facilities have also aged.

After redevelopment, it will be reborn as a business and cultural neighborhood living facility with 8 basement floors and 21 above-ground floors (total floor area of 113,000㎡). The maintenance plan, including the introduction of open green spaces and provision of public facilities (roads, parks), has been finalized, allowing construction with a floor area ratio of 994% and a height of up to 90 meters.

A classical concert hall (tentatively named Korea Chamber Hall) with a capacity of 500 seats will be built in the basement. The Korea Chamber Hall is a medium-sized venue capable of hosting indoor chamber orchestra performances.

A large-scale green space of 6,200㎡ will be introduced on the east side of the project site. It will be integrated with the adjacent Susong Park and open green spaces to create a resting area within the city.

A complex cultural space linked with cultural facilities planned in the adjacent Susong district will be created. An archaeological exhibition hall (Susong District 1-3 Zone) will be established in the basement of the Jongno-gu Office on the west side of the project site, and an art gallery (exhibition hall) will be created in the basement of the 1-2 Zone (Daelim Building). The pedestrian environment will also be improved so that citizens passing through this area can access it via an underground passage from Gwanghwamun Station through Jongno-gu Office.

Seoul City stated, "We expect the Susong district to be reborn as a complex cultural space where history and culture blend, becoming a beloved space for citizens to enjoy diverse experiences."
