Gangnam Police Officer Urgently Arrested
Embezzled Seized Assets Worth 300 Million Won
An active-duty police officer was arrested on charges of embezzling several hundred million won worth of seized items obtained during an investigation.
On the 16th, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul announced that Sergeant A, affiliated with the investigation division of the Gangnam Police Station, was urgently detained.
According to the police, Sergeant A, who was in charge of managing seized items, is suspected of repeatedly embezzling cash and other items confiscated from gambling operations. The embezzled seized items are reported to amount to 300 million won.
The police noticed discrepancies in the seized items' records and, after tracking, urgently detained Sergeant A at the office on the 14th.
The police are currently verifying the exact details of the crime.
